A unique project: The lives of two pigs, of two siblings, which both began in captive animal farming – but which took dramatically different turns later on.

Now this material shouldn’t remain stashed away on our website. We want somebody to use this material to create a short, interesting, ingenious video. Therefore, we are looking for people with the necessary skills, experience and motivation to help us.

In principle, we are wide open as to how the video clips are made – but these two videos at the end of this story will give you an example on how the clip could be put together.

Please spread this call via email, Facebook, Twitter, Skype, forums or other places to help us to find the right people who are able and willing to support us.

They were two brothers who couldn’t have spent their lives more differently. If you don’t know yet what this project actually was going directly about, this story will be able to help you with comprehending.

Now then, in this comparison of videos, we want to give you a retrospective overview about the life of the observed pigs. For that purpose we are going to show here the most important stations of both lives with a small fraction of the developed videos.

X15 – pig in mast Jackpot (X11) – the saved one
June, the 26. in 2009: Birth of both piglets (and their siblings).
June, the 27. in 2009: Piglets just have been living for a couple of hours.
June, the 30. in 2009: X15 is castrated without any anaesthetization -
Jackpot will be castrated with anaesthetization one month later.
July, the 22. in 2009: Both piglets are separated from their mother.
X15 comes to the so-called “piglets’ breeding”, Jackpot moves to the animal sanctuary.
X15 and Jackpot at the age of 4 weeks.
August, the 26. in 2009: Even now lives of both couldn’t be more different.
September, the 10. in 2009: X15 is come from breeding to mast.
On the contrary Jackpot can move absolutely freely himself.
September, the 15. in 2009: That’s the way how lives of both looks like until now. This certainty won’t change until January.
January, the 28. in 2010: X15 is killed – Jackpot may live continuing.

And for completion there are still 10 pictures which are chosen by chance and which were originated in those seven months. (Every time if you visit this page, different pictures will be shown.)

The pictures on this video are neither nice nor enjoyable. It´s the slaughtering of a pig. A hundred percent legal – a hundred percent „usual“. Every day numberless pigs worldwide are killed in this way or even more cruel ways.

The video is about a pig called X15; this pig was accompanied and his life and death documented with cameras for seven months.

In this manner it was necessary to „assist“ X15 too.

Furthermore he gives reasons for calling the pig-slaughter en masse in Egypt “cruel murder”.

In the beginning of the campaign we have sent an interview-request to all speakers of animal protection of Austrian parliament. Until now we only got answer from Christiane Brunner, speaker of animal protection of the Greens (apart from the FPÖ).

The four to five months, which it takes to fatten an average pig in Austria, mean to gain weight from something over 30 kg to about 110 kg.

After that they are transferred to rearing and determined to be carried to the slaughterhouse and finally slaughtered four to five months later.
